Rewrite the Future: Wardlaw Museum exhibition opens this weekend

Many of us at StACCS have been busy over the past nine months working with a team from the University’s Wardlaw Museum to put together an exhibition showcasing a range of sustainability-facing research at St Andrews. The exhibition, Rewrite the Future, aims to go beyond the typical focus of the sustainability discourse on environment and technology, placing people at the heart of the matter. Can we have a sustainable future without social justice? Do we need to rethink our relationship with nature? Who should be deciding how technology is designed and implemented? How can we reconcile our growth-driven economy with our finite planet?
The Wardlaw Museum team has led the design of the exhibition brilliantly. They have responded with enthusiasm to our challenge to reduce the environmental footprint of the exhibition itself as far as possible, creatively using recycled and easily recyclable materials. Numerous colleagues from across the university have contributed, and it has been exciting to see their stories unfold. Many of these colleagues, and more besides, will be contributing to a packed events programme, which aims to offer something for everyone – children, students, locals, tourists, and academics alike. This is a great opportunity to present our collective research, and the vision behind StACCS.
The exhibition runs from 31 May to 28 September 2025 and entry is free. The Wardlaw Museum is open from 11am to 7pm weekdays, and 10-5 at the weekends. More info at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/museums.
