Clusters and Themes

One of the challenges of sustainability thinking is in joining the dots between the global picture of climate change and resource depletion, with the necessarily local actions that need to take place to mitigate and adapt to change. Our research agenda tackles this challenge by focusing both on local problems and solutions that apply to our geographical location in eastern Scotland, and by reaching out to partners around the globe to exchange ideas and explore the local-to-global linkages within sustainability research.

From January 2024, StACCS will host, fund, and facilitate joint research, writing, exchange, outreach and impact projects across three transdisciplinary topics: Carbon, Capital and Community. StACCS will also tackle four methodological themes that reflect how we do research: Creatively, Civically, Carefully, and Chronologically.
