StACCS Welcomes New ‘Capital’ Cluster Lead
Dr Kat Hunfeld is a political theorist and an Associate Lecturer at the School of International Relations.
Under Dr Hunfeld’s leadership, the ‘Capital’ cluster will strengthen the network of researchers who are interested in the intersection between capitalism and ecological degradation; in questions of land, infrastructure, wealth and heritage; as well as in future economic and social systems that promise more harmonious relations between humans and nature.
The next activity of this theme will be a workshop on landownership, sustainability & capital, to take place in July 2026 (date tbd). This one-day workshop will facilitate conversations between academics from Scotland with members of the Scottish Land Commission and Community Land Scotland to discuss the increasing assetization of land, especially in the context of nature conservation and carbon offsetting project.
