Following the success of our first funding round, the St Andrews Centre for Critical Sustainabilities (StACCS) is pleased to announce a second call for Project Grants supporting innovative sustainability research, to be led by members of academic staff at St Andrews. Through this call, we aim to support top‑quality research, foster new collaborations within and beyond the University, and strengthen our collective contribution to a more just, equitable, and sustainable society.

In this round, we anticipate making up to three awards of up to £5,000 (with smaller projects also welcome), alongside optional administrative and facilitation support. Projects must be led by a member of academic staff at St Andrews, involve collaboration across at least two Schools/Research Units and/or with external partners, and run between 1 August 2026 and 31 July 2027. Proposals should align with the StACCS remit and ideally connect to one or more of our seven broad research themes (Carbon, Community, Capital, Careful, Chronological, Civic, and Creative), while delivering clear and achievable outcomes such as funding proposals, research articles, data collection, or impactful outreach.

The deadline for applications is 17.00 on Friday 26 June 2026. Award holders will be asked to share their work through a short report and blog post, helping to showcase the breadth and impact of sustainability research at St Andrews.

For more information, please see the further guidelines here. If you have questions or would like to discuss an idea, please contact the StACCS team at [email protected].
