Community

Community brings attention to issues of connection between people, places, and nature, raising questions about what sustainability is, and for whom. Sustainability is about more than just the environment: it encompasses the sustainability of communities, institutions, and economic relations. Questions of scale are important, from individual actors to complex structures.  

The Centre’s focus on community includes: 

• The racialisation of natures and environments through colonial power 
• Populations and migration 
• Home and alien environments 
• Recognition, e.g. of marginalized groups 
• Behaviour change  
• Place-based values and interactions between people and nature.
